Monthly Transaction Value Tops KRW100bn
Naver Webtoon announced on Feb. 16 that the number of monthly active users (MAUs) exceeded 82 million in January. The figure reached 72 million in December 2020.
As the number of global users swelled, the amount of paid transactions also increased. According to the company, monthly transactions topped 100 billion won in January. The figure also hit 100 billion won in August 2021.
Growth was driven by an increase in overseas transactions of existing webtoons and a significant expansion in global user inflow through the success of large new works and visual intellectual property (IP) rights.
In particular, "7FATES: CHAKHO," which was created in collaboration with BTS, surpassed 15 million views in just two days since its launch on Jan. 15, setting a new record. Naver Webtoon’s English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German and Thai services also hit new highs in daily number of active users (DAU).
Meanwhile, Naver Webtoon is providing various webtoon content in 10 languages through a global platform. It offers services in more than 100 countries around the world. It shows popular webtoons from around the world under the names of Webtoons, Line Manga, and Line Webtoons in the United States, Europe, Japan and Southeast Asia.
