Advanced IoT Nations

Consulting firm Accenture released its “Winning with the Industrial Internet of Things” report on Jan. 26, which shows the preparedness of 20 major countries for the Internet of Things (IoT) era. On the list, Korea recorded 52.2 points to rank 12th.

On top of the list was the United States (64 points), followed by Switzerland (63.9), Finland (63.2), Sweden (62.4), and Norway (61.8). The Northern European countries showed good performance based on their systematic management of social overhead capital.

Japan recorded 54.5, Germany 54.3, Australia 54.1, Canada 50.9, China 47.1, and France 45.7. Russia took 20th place with 21.3.

According to the report, the United States is expected to increase its GDP by at least two percentage points by 2030 based on increased investment in IoT networks and technology for its popularization. The percentage is estimated at 1.8 percent for each of Japan and Germany.

Accenture added that the global IoT market is likely to reach US$14.2 trillion won in size by 2030, which is more than 13 times market research firms’ average estimate for last year.
