In the afternoon of Jan. 22, Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin invited 80 people, including members of the Asia Society Korea Center and diplomatic missions in Korea, to the 2nd Lotte World in Jamsil. He gave them a tour of the site and explained the progress of the construction of the Lotte World Tower and the current operating conditions of the Lotte World Mall.
About 30 members from the diplomatic missions attended, including Rolf Mafael, German Ambassador to Korea; Gonzalo Ortiz, Spanish Ambassador to Korea; Uri Gutman, Israeli Ambassador to Korea; and Baasanjav Ganbold, Mongolian Ambassador to Korea.
Shin said, “Once the construction of the Lotte World Tower is completed at the end of next year, it will become the landmark of Korea, employing 20,000 regular workers and creating annual tourism profits of 300 billion won [US$277 million].”
Shin is Chairman of the Asia Society Korea Center, which was established in 2008. The Asia Society is a non-profit organization that focuses on improving exchanges between the U.S. and Asia, which was founded in 1956 by John D. Rockefeller III.
