CJ O Shopping has signed an MOU with Cigna, a global health insurance company, to jointly sell new insurance products to the Chinese market. The two companies signed the MOU at the headquarters of the Cigna International Market in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong on Jan. 16 (local time).

Cigna is rumored to have a profound interest in CJ O Shopping’s 10 years of insurance telemarketing and global TV home shopping network marketing expertise working in 9 regions of 7 different countries.

CJ O Shopping will provide its customer relationship management, call center, and IT system development expertise to the joint venture through CJ IMC, its outsourcing subsidiary.

Both companies are eyeing the Chinese market first, with a goal of 100 billion won (US$92.76 million) in insurance sales by 2018.

Kim Yun-koo, vice president of the global business division at CJ O Shopping, said, “Including China, we will expand our business areas to India, Thailand, and Turkey in the future.”
