Hanwha Q Cells Japan has completed the construction of a 24 megawatt solar power plant in Oita Prefecture, Japan. The facility is built on 299,940 square meters (about 90,000 pyeong) of unused hills in the city of Kitsuki, and some 97,000 Hanwha Q Cells modules were used. Beginning from this month, the plant is generating electricity to supply 7,190 households annually.

Hanwha Q Cells Japan ranks 1st in sales among foreign solar cell producers in Japan, and more than 700MW modules were sold in 2014, leading the Japanese solar energy market.

Recently, in particular, the company has been aggressively seeking private solar energy investment projects in Japan. It also aims to set up 100MW of solar plants in Japan every year.

Kim Jong-seo, head of Hanwha Q Cells Japan, said, “Taking the construction opportunity, we will go beyond just selling our modules in the Japanese market and make a leap as the firm leader of new renewable energy, which supplies stable electricity to Japan using sunlight.”
