Remote Desktop Software

The number of free remote desktop software programs is growing.

According to industry sources on Jan. 13, Microsoft and Google are releasing free remote desktop software. So far, companies like Parallels, Join.me, WebEx Free, and TeamViewer have rolled out remote desktop software. With Microsoft and Google's move, a change in market dynamics is expected.

Remote desktop software enables people to log into and control a computer at home or the office from their smartphone, tablet, or PC. Hence, it is possible to use Intranet or business software by accessing a PC at the office.

Google launched a Chrome Remote Desktop app for iOS on Jan. 12. Users of the iPhone or iPad can access a remote computer after downloading the app. The search engine giant released an Android version of its Chrome Remote Desktop app last year.

The remote desktop function is expected to be augmented in Windows 10, which is scheduled to be unveiled Jan. 22. Microsoft featured remote desktop software in the existing Windows operating system, but new software is likely to add advanced features such as high-resolution multimedia streaming.

The reason for Google and Microsoft's efforts to strengthen remote desktop software lies in an increased demand for numerous PC functions on the smartphone or tablet. To do office work with a smartphone or tablet, it is necessary to change software for PC to work on a smartphone. However, it is possible to use PC functions on a smartphone by utilizing remote desktop software.
