Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation, Nongshim, number one in the ramen industry of Korea, has launched a new product called Wooyook Tangmyun.

Wooyook Tangmyun has large soft and chewy noodles served in a flavorful red chili broth laced with beef. In fact, its noodles have a diameter of 3.2 mm, the largest noodle diameter in Korea. They are two times thicker than general ramen noodles, which are a skinny 1.6 mm in diameter. They are even 1.5 times thicker than Nongshim’s Neoguri noodles, which are only 2.1 mm. Wooyook Tangmyun noodles are some thick noodles.

Nongshim’s 50 years of noodle-making research has enabled the company to develop the technology to boil thick noodles in a short time. They have commercialized this technique for the first time in Wooyook Tangmyun.

An official from Nongshim said, “Ramen producers, including Japanese, are targeting the global market by offering differentiated noodle types. Once Wooyook Tangmyun gains ground in the domestic market, we will export it to the global market.”

The company is positive that Wooyook Tangmyun will win over consumers in the Chinese market, where ramen served in beef broth is very popular. After gaining ground in the Chinese market, Nongshim plans to expand to the U.S. Its ultimate goal is to catch up the world’s best Japanese ramen producers.

Meanwhile, marking the 50th anniversary of its establishment, Nongshim plans to become a global food and beverage company, turning its Baeksansu brand into a new growth engine in the mineral water market.
