Hyundai Motor Company sold over 100,000 cars in Australia last year, for the first time in 28 years since it had entered the market in 1986. Up to this moment, only four automakers have sold more than 100,000 cars a year in the Australian market. The other three are Toyota, Holden and Mazda.

Specifically, Hyundai’s local sales volume for 2014 is 100,011 vehicles, 3.1 percent higher compared to the previous year. It recorded a market share of 9.0 percent, ranking fourth, and followed Mazda by a margin of 693 cars. All of the top five except for Hyundai showed negative year-on-year growth last year.

Its ix35 accounted for 22.2 percent of the small SUV segment as the segment winner. The i20 was the top seller in the light vehicle segment, too. The i30 beat the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus in the small car category, while the Veloster showed 22.4 percent year-on-year growth to rank second in the sports car segment.
