LG Electronics has opened the era of an air conditioner with dual outlets. The company is releasing a total of 19 new models of air conditioners including the Whisen Dual Air Conditioner, which has two cold air outlets that are controlled individually.

As the new air conditioner allows consumers to control the strength and direction of air individually, the product offers different levels of experience to different consumers. It can be a completely custom air conditioning system that on one side saves power for the frugal and on the other blasts cold air for the eternally hot.

For instance, one of the two outlets in the air conditioner sends out moderate air power to those who are in the living room where the air conditioner is placed. The other outlet sends out stronger air to reach those who are in a distant place such as the kitchen.

Since it is possible to change the direction of the air up to 120 degrees from side to side and 50 degrees vertically, the air conditioner can even cool down a room with a high ceiling.

Using only one air outlet can reduce its power consumption by up to 40 percent compared with the use of both outlets. The cooling time is reduced by up to 25 percent compared to the existing inverter model as well.

LG's HomeChat service is also available in the air conditioner. LG HomeChat enables consumers to communicate with its appliances through a mobile messenger. Using mobile messengers like LINE and Kakao Talk, consumers can check the status of the air conditioner and remotely control the machine.

Users can also use the LG Whisen App to remotely control the air conditioner outside the home, self-check, find and manage the amount of energy consumption, check the replacement period for its filters, and check the estimated monthly bills on the smartphone.

The Whisen Dual Air Conditioner features both a 3MTM Ultrafine Particles Plus Filter and a Smog Deodorization Filter. Its 3MTM Ultrafine Particles Plus Filter removes even particles with a size of 0.02µm from the air. For comparison, a human hair is 100µm in diameter. Also, the Smog Deodorization Filter eliminates not only smog-causing substances, including sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), but also its odor.

LG's 19 models of air conditioners have all obtained the Energy Frontier certification, meaning over 150 percent more energy efficient than the Energy Consumption Efficiency Grade 1. By the end of March, LG will pre-sell the model by subscription. Its price will range from 3.3 to 4 million won (US$3046.53 to $3692.76)

Oh Jung-won, director of LG Electronics’ Residential Air Conditioning division, said, “We will lead the high-end air conditioner market by constantly releasing air conditioners offering new value to their customers like the Dual Air Conditioner.”
