Provides Appliances and Solutions to Households in Smart Village

A model shows how to control home appliances using Samsung Electronics' SmartThings application.

Samsung Electronics announced on Dec. 27 that it has built smart homes in Eco Delta City, a national pilot smart city in Busan.

Promoted by Korea Water Resources Corp., Eco Delta City is a smart city with 30,000 households on a site of 11.8 square meters in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

Samsung Electronics supplied various home appliances and solutions to 56 households in Smart Village, the first demonstration complex in Eco Delta City.

Smart Village will introduce innovative technologies in five areas -- healthcare, robots, living environment, data, and water services -- and operate in the form of Living Lab where residents can actually live and experience smart homes over the next five years.

Samsung Electronics will supply a total of 15 products, including family hub refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, air dressers, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, QLED TVs, air monitors, and Galaxy tabs.

Residents can do various things with Samsung Electronics’ SmartThings application, including control of home appliances, lighting, cooling and heating, checking missed visitors, management of unmanned delivery, and checking announcements from the management office.

In addition, Samsung Electronics will provide various convergence services that boost convenience in life. For example, by sensing air quality and integrating control of built-in ventilation devices and air purifiers, the company will provide customized cleaning functions for each space and monitors power consumption by home appliances through SmartThings energy services. Family Hub Refrigerator will provide customized cooking recipes using crops grown here smart farms in smart villages in conjunction with the smart farms.
