Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Logs the Fastest Speed

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy smartphones are faster than Apple’s iPhone 12 in download speed.

A test has found that Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy smartphones are faster than Apple’s iPhone 12 in download speed.

Ookla, an internet speed measurement site, said on Dec. 20 it conducted a speed test on major smartphone models used in Korea in the third quarter of 2021 and found that the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G logged the fastest speed of 221.18 Mbps.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G was followed by the Galaxy S215G (215.1 Mbps) and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (199.91 Mbps) and iPhone 12 (193.34 Mbps).

The iPhone 13, which was released in 2021, was excluded from the comparison list due to the small number of its samples.

In an LTE download speed test, the Galaxy S9+ also set the highest speed record of 60.41 Mbps. The Galaxy series model ranked first to fourth in LTE download speeds, beating the fifth-ranked iPhone 11 (56.96 Mbps).

However, the iPhone 13 came in first in 5G download speeds at tests conducted in other countries.

In China, Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro (280.22 Mbps) narrowly beat the iPhone 13 (278.22 Mbps). The iPhone 13 outclassed Android phones led by Galaxy models in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Meanwhile, 5G download speeds of major smartphones in Korea have been on a steady rise, starting with the Galaxy S10 5G hitting 102.61 Mbps in 2019.

“In Korea, it is worth buying 5G smartphones,” Ookla said. “Consumers can choose a wide array of high-performance 5G smartphone models.”
