The heads of major cities which lead the world’s electric vehicle market, including Leipzig, Germany, Zermatt, Switzerland and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, will gather in Jeju Island.

The organizing committee for the International Electric Vehicle Expo (Chairman Kim Dae-hwan) announced that the 2nd International Electric Vehicle Expo (IEVE 2015) will be held in Jeju next March and the world’s major leaders including Germany’s environment minister and the governor of Saxony in Germany will be there.

The mayor of Zermatt, where only electric vehicles are allowed on the streets, and the mayor of Amsterdam, which has nearly 10,000 electric cars on the roads and is in the vanguard of the popularization of electric automobiles in Europe, will visit Jeju as well.

The organizing committee added that the possibility that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, will participate in the expo is also drawing attention.

The expo will be held at the Jeju International Convention Center for 10 days, starting from March 6. About 80 manufacturing companies that produce electric cars, batteries and parts will participate in the event. Tajima, Japanese electric race car manufacturer, Mitsubishi, Mahindra, and BYD will have an exhibit as well as BMW, Nissan, Renault Samsung Motors, and Kia Motors, which participated in the expo this year.
