For Innovative Gaze-tracking Technology

The winners of the SLINGSHOT 2021 pitching contest are announced on the official website of 2021 Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH).

The Born2Global Center announced on Nov. 30 that its member company, VisualCamp, was named one of the three grand finalists in the Frontier Digital Technology sector of SLINGSHOT 2021, a startup pitching contest in Singapore.

SLINGSHOT is an event held as part of Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH). In 2021, it was held online. More than 5,000 global teams from 150 countries participated in the pitching competition. Among the applicants, the top 100 teams reached the finals, and of them, three teams were selected in each of the four categories as the grand finalists. The final winner receives prize money of 200,000 Singaporean dollars in addition to the 50,000 Singaporean dollars given to a sector winner.

VisualCamp was chosen as a grand finalist for its SeeSo, gaze-tracking software that can catch a user's gaze on a screen with a front camera of the device. The company also received the Best Mobile Innovation Award at the MWC Barcelona 2021 in June and the Innovation Award at CES in November.

Gaze tracking technology developed by VisualCamp is powered by an appearance-based algorithm that learns facial images and coordinates of people looking at a specific location of a device. Recently, the company's patented technology was registered in the United States, enabling it to concentrate on expanding its business not only in Korea but in Silicon Valley, United States.
