A Course on Korean Dishes

The IFEZ Global Center offers an online cooking course for foreigners living in Songdo International City.

Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) Authority announced on Oct. 5 that the IFEZ Global Center recently offered an online cooking course for foreigners living in Songdo International City in Incheon.

A total of 16 foreigners attended the course and made three dishes — tofu japchae (Korean glass noodle), tofu rolls, soft tofu and seasonings. They had an opportunity to learn about the history and efficacy of tofu.

"I am interested in various vegetarian recipes, and it was great to learn about special Korean vegetarian recipes using tofu through this course," said Minu Junjunwala from India after participating in the online cooking class. "I will make good use of the recipes and introduce them to foreigners around me."

Meanwhile, IFEZ Authority said that it will expand the operation of the foreigner-friendly certification system for stores as more stores want to be designated as foreigner-friendly. To be certified as foreigner-friendly, a store needs to have English-speaking employees. The authority introduced the certification system in 2020. It also plans to hold a kimchi sharing event at the end of this year for foreigners interested in cooking and volunteer services.
