Giant ODM
Hansae (President Lee Yong-baek) was awarded a US$1 billion export tower on the 51st Annual Trade Day.
The company produces products by Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), not simply OEM, suggesting not only the fabrics to be used but the entire design. It exported over 260 million pieces of clothing every year and is growing as a global fashion company.
As of the end of this year, its exports are expected to record US$1.2 billion. They have overseas branches in Vietnam, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Myanmar, and an R&D center in New York. Approximately 50,000 people work for them worldwide, including 650 people at Seoul headquarters, 36,000 at overseas production bases, and workers at each country's subcontractors.
The company has an affiliate, Hansae Dream, which has a clothing brand Curlysue for children. Hansae Dream is expanding its market to China. Moimoln, a baby clothing brand, was launched at Korean and Chinese stores at the same time in July, showing a classic northern European style of baby clothing. The company had a goal to open 30 stores in the year at the launching stage, but it opened the 50 stores five months after the launching, having the opening of 60 stores ahead.
Hansae Vice Chairman Lee Yong-baek said, “We have a global competitive edge to provide designed products with quality that major global clothing buyers want, and meet delivery dates through various regions of global production bases.”
