Recycled Components?
Samsung Electronics refuted the argument that recycled AMOLED screens are used in Galaxy smartphones.
“There is a rumor that we have used recycled AMOLED display panels in our smartphones, but it is not true at all,” it said on its official blog on Dec. 3, adding, “Recycled AMOLED display panels have not been used at all in product manufacturing processes, while some of the panels have been employed for paid warranty services.” It explained that this is an option to reduce repair costs, and it obtains the consent of the customer before actually using those panels.
That day, a person who is claimed to be a Samsung Electronics employee maintained on SNS sites that recycled AMOLED panels are deteriorating the quality of new Samsung smartphones these days. The person attached pictures and videos of what appears to be Samsung’s smartphone manufacturing plant to the posting.
“This individual is not one of our employees and it is not sure if the place shown in the pictures and videos is our factory,” Samsung clarified.
