The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) and the Japan Business Federation (JBF) held the 24th Korea-Japan Business Council meeting in Seoul on Dec. 1. A total of 45 figures attended the meeting, including JBF Chairman Sadayuki Sakakibara and FKI Chairman Huh Chang-soo, in an effort to contribute to fence mending between the two countries.

“As two leading Asian countries, Japan and Korea should work more closely together for economic cooperation, a quantum leap in the global economy, and the emergence of the super Northeast Asian economic zone,” said the FKI Chairman. Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara responded by saying, “Closer relations with Korea based on cooperation in new industrial fields is one of the top priorities of our organization.”

At the conference, both parties agreed to make efforts for a bilateral summit meeting in the near future while striving for the Korea-China-Japan FTA, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP).
