iPhone Vulnerabilities

Raon Secure announced on Nov. 17 that its security technology research team won the grand prize at this year’s Pwn2Own by detecting vulnerabilities in iOS8.

iOS is designed to prevent hacking of an application by preventing a program from affecting other part of the operating system. However, the team found that this security function can be circumvented in smartphones and tablet PCs running the OS.

The team detected vulnerabilities in the Safari web browser, too. Malignant code can be activated on certain websites when using Safari, even without a user clicking on a link or downloading a file.

Hosted by HP, the Pwn2Own is a hacking competition held in Canada during the CanSecWest period. Since 2007, hackers from all over the world have vied with each other to hack mobile devices.
