Server giants like IBM, HP, and Oracle, which dominated the global market with traditional IT systems such as IT infrastructure and software, are now focusing on the Korean security market.

According to industry sources on Nov. 10, IBM Korea, HP Korea, and Oracle Korea launched advanced security services and solutions for large companies and the financial industry, to dominate the local market.

With the leakage of private and corporations' confidential information, IBM Korea released a critical data protection program (CDPP) to manage and protect corporate data.

HP Korea is also involved in the security sector. The company provides security services to manage and control security and protect data based on its solutions like TippingPoint and ArcSight. It also provides corporation-oriented security platforms through HAVEn, a big data platform that combines solutions like Autonomy and Vertica.

Oracle Korea is aggressive in the security field as well. It appears to concentrate on data security by encoding the database, as its database is widely used in large companies and data centers in the nation.

The phenomenon is attributable to the symbolic meaning of the local security market. An official at Oracle Korea explained by saying, “The local security market is small, but it is one of the world's fastest-growing markets.” The official added, “In particular, the nation's information leakage accidents and cyber threats from North Korea and China draw a lot of attention in the world. Global IT giants are focusing on the Korean market, since securing references here means the best practice case for the global market.”
