Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) received an order to build two offshore plants worth altogether US$700 million (760 billion won).

On Nov. 10, SHI said that it obtained orders for the understructure of a Floating Production Unit (FPU) ordered by Royal Dutch Shell and an offshore platform production project ordered by a U.S. oil company.

The design work of the FPU ordered by Royal Dutch Shell is already in progress, and both parties are going to sign the contract soon. The contract will be signed in the manner of determining the order price after calculating the allocated materials through basic design.

SHI was selected as priority negotiation partner for the offshore platform ordered by a U.S. oil company, so the contract for the order is near at hand. The contract will be signed after mid-November when the contractor’s board of directors approves the contract.
