Incheon International Airport is selected as the world's best airport for the fifth consecutive year

Incheon International Airport (IIAC) won the ACI (Airports Council International) Annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for the world's best airport for the fifth year in a run. Incheon International Airport once again scored the highest marks in the survey in three categories to become the Best Airport Worldwide, the Best Airport in Asia-Pacific and the Best Airport with annual passenger traffic of between 25 and 40 million. ACI is an international association of the world's 1,700 airports in 181 nations worldwide, and its Airport Service Quality (ASQ) is regarded as the Oscar awards of aviation.

The rankings are based on 250,000 questionnaires administered by the ACI last year, which asked passengers to rate the service quality of 34 factors in airport service, with 27 of them related to facilities and operations and the remaining seven being service-related. IIAC is the only airport to receive the award for the five consecutive years since the survey begun in 1993. Only Dubai Airport has come close, being selected as the World's Best Airport for three consecutive years. IIAC earned the highest points in the survey's history, receiving a score of 4.99 out of 5. The awards ceremony will take place at the 5th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition in Hainan, China on May 13.

“Winning the top honors in the ACI survey as the best airport for five consecutive years shows the results of the combined efforts of the Korean government and the 35,000 airport employees who have consistently delivered excellent services every year. We will strive to offer unique services to differentiate ourselves from other international airports, upholding our reputation” said Mr. CW Lee, President & CEO of IIAC.

IIAC successfully completed the second phase of its construction project through the building of a new concourse and the addition of a third runway in 2008. Furthermore, a faster and simpler customs procedure is now in operation, featuring a self check-in and automated immigration clearance system IIAC offers flawless transfer service amenities and other commercial facilities blended together to bring better services in order to stay competitive with other top airports around the world. Furthermore, IIAC's aggressive strategy towards the international market resulted in the signing of an agreement to be the consulting partner to Iraq's Irbill International Airport in February 2009 in a contract worth US$31.5 million. Meanwhile, in December 2009, IIAC also won a Master Plan contract with Russia's Khabarovsk Novy Airport and is expected to win more overseas contracts as a result of being named the world's best airport for five consecutive years.
