Apple has unveiled the iPad Air 2. The brand new tablet PC with a thickness of only 6.1 mm is poised to compete with Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Tab S in the global market.
During its launch event on Oct. 16 (local time), Apple CEO Tim Cook stressed that the iPad Air 2 is the thinnest tablet PC in the world at 6.1 mm.
The first iPad released four years ago had a thickness of 13.4 mm, but the iPad Air that made its debut last year was 7.5 mm thick. The Galaxy Tab S, released in June this year, is 6.6 mm thick.
The Galaxy Tab S is increasing its popularity in European markets these days. It recorded 16.1 points in the recent Que Choisir magazine survey in France to be selected as the best choice. Also, British consumer magazine Which granted 79 points to each of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and the iPad Air.
