ICT Exports Jump 32.6% YoY in April

Korea's ICT exports totaled US$17.06 billion in April, up 32.6 percent from a year ago.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on May 17 that Korea's ICT exports totaled US$17.06 billion last month, up 32.6 percent from a year ago. ICT imports were US$10.78 billion last month.

The former figure is the highest April figure and the rate of increase is the highest since April 2010, when the exports increased 33.3 percent.

Exports to China, Vietnam, the United States and the European Union increased 21.6 percent, 67 percent, 25.2 percent and 36.3 percent, respectively. Those to Japan fell 1.4 percent.

Semiconductor exports added up to US$9.4 billion, up 29.4 percent from a year ago. The exports increased for the 10th consecutive month with memory and system-on-chip exports increasing 18.8 percent to US$5.93 billion and 59 percent to US$2.94 billion, respectively.

Exports from non-large companies increased 41.5 percent to US$4.22 billion. Their semiconductor, electrical equipment and computer and peripheral exports were US$1.77 billion, US$360 million and US$160 million, respectively.
