Japanese Energy Market

Shinsung Solar Energy (President Kim Dae-ryong) announced on Sept. 29 that it signed a photovoltaic module supply contract with Hayashimoto, a Japanese construction company.

The contract amount is 7 billion won (US$6.6 million) and the former will supply its solar modules by Sept. next year.

Shinsung Solar Energy had signed a similar contract with Taiyou in March this year, too. The combined amount of the contracts it has concluded in Japan has reached 20.5 billion won (US$19.5 million). The Japanese photovoltaic power market, which is one of the world’s fastest-growing with Germany, the U.S., China, and Spain, is expected to grow to a capacity of 9 GW this year. Shinsung had signed a contract worth 3.2 billion won (US$3.0 million) with Hayashimoto in 2013 as well.

“We have strived hard to make inroads into the Japanese market,” said the president, adding, “We will keep increasing our presence in the market based on our competitive edge and advanced technology.”
