Utilizing the Strengths of Hydrogen Drones

A view of the area in northern Netherlands where the Maritime Emerging Technologies Innovation Park (METIP) project is underway

Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) announced on April 21 that it will participate in the Maritime Emerging Technologies Innovation Park (METIP) project in the Netherlands in partnership with the Development Agency Noord-Holland Noord (NHN), a Dutch government organization.

NHN is a government-affiliated regional development organization that supports various activities for economic development, including business development, investment and acquisition, in northern Amsterdam of the Netherlands. METIP is a four-year (2021-2024) marine technology innovation support project organized by NHN and participated in by the government, companies, and research institutes. The project focuses on human resources development, a hydrogen economy and energy conversion among others.

DMI participates in NHN’s first solution development project using drones. DMI delivers emergency supplies to offshore hubs 40-60 kilometers away from the headquarters of an energy company on land, or supplies to energy facilities such as gas drilling facilities and wind turbines in the sea.

This project will proceed in three stages –- Utilizing current technology (drone delivery), applying technology (saving people and monitoring the environment) and technology development (facility inspection and reconnaissance). DMI will demonstrate various applications by taking advantages of hydrogen drones.
