Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) held the DSME Ice Bucket Challenge event on Sept. 18. Jointly planned by the ordering bodies and DSME, the event was joined by DSME executives, 12 managers at the contract ordering bodies, and 36 DSME managers.

This is one of the fruits from DSME keeping a close relationship with the contractors based on trust and cooperation. Amid the Ice Bucket Challenge spreading like wildfire, it draws special attention in that the contractors relay the events in unison across the national board.

“We wanted to make a meaningful challenge for sharing with our trusted business partners and hope our donation will reach out to those in need of it,” said Peter Poland, the Atwood Oceanics project manager who suggested the event.

The donation will be delivered to welfare facilities in October, and the companies are planning to continue their social contribution activities down the road with one another, too.

An ice bucket challenge is a campaign for experiencing, though indirectly, the pain of those suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease. It has been completed by a great number of politicians, celebrities and many more around the world.
