Hankook Tire & Technology announced on April 5 that it will supply tires for the ES6 and EC6, the main models of Chinese electric vehicle company Nio.

Nio is a fast-growing company which sold 43,000 units in 2020, about double the sales figure in 2019. The ES6, a purely electric SUV, is Nio's flagship model with a maximum power of 544 horsepower. It can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. In particular, the ES6 model with a 100 kWh battery pack can run 610 kilometers on one single charge.

In addition, the EC6 is a purely electric coupe-type SUV model that can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds from standstill, and has a maximum mileage of 615 km when equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack.

Hankook Tire & Technology will supply the Ventus S1 Evo2 SUV for the Nio ES6 and EC6. The tire offers improved durability and driving performance as it has high-strength bead fillers. Its tread design is optimized for contact with the road surface to achieve the best grip and braking performance on dry and wet roads. In particular, it provides a comfortable and quiet driving environment even at high speeds by minimizing noises.

The Korean tire giant looks to penetrate the rapidly growing Chinese electric vehicle market based on its partnership with Nio.
