Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) has won an airport development and operation project in Indonesia worth 600 billion won.

IIAC announced on March 21 that the Incheon Airport Consortium has been selected as the final bidder for the development and operation of Hang Nadim International Airport (Batam Airport) located on Batam Island, Indonesia. The project period is about 25 years.

Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BIFZA) looked for a project operator who can realize its goal of transforming the airport into an international logistics and tourism hub. Global airport operators such as France's consulting and engineering group EGIS and India's GMR participated in the bid, but BIFZA selected IIAC as the final winner.

IIAC will remodel the existing passenger terminal at Batam Airport and open a second passenger terminal by 2024. It will carry out the project in cooperation with Indonesia's PT Angkasa Pura 1 (AP1) and state-run construction company WIKA. IIAC will export the Airport Common User System (AirCUS) of its own development to Batam Airport.
