LTE Black Box

LG U+ announced on Sept. 2 that it debuted the U+ LTE Black Box Vehicle Control Service based on information about the location and operation of the LTE black box.

The mobile carrier is touting the fact that its new LTE black box instantly responds to an accident by automatically sending a video consisting of the 20 seconds (30MB) before and after a traffic accident to cloud storage. Therefore, it is possible to watch videos recorded in black boxes in HD at any time and place, using a smartphone.

In addition, once information about the time and GPS coordinates is sent from a black box to a control server using the LTE network, those in charge of managing cars can check information about vehicle operation in real-time via fmsgps.lte-blackbox.com and an app on the smartphone.

Another notable feature is that, thanks to a variety of menus associated with information about vehicle location, people can easily understand location-based information. By marking the current location of vehicles on the map, it is possible to identify the location of all vehicles at once. It is also possible to identify whether or not cars are being operated, since information as to whether cars are on is also displayed. On top of that, it is much easier to identify the location of vehicles in real time by tracking where it is being driven.

This service is available for a subscription fee of 8,000 won (US$7.84) per vehicle per month, with an agreement to use the service for two years. The company emphasized that the service is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises that want to have a relatively simple vehicle control service and need to check videos of accidents in real time.
