SK Hynix Ranked 4th with 11.6%

Market research firm TrendForce reported on March 4 that Samsung Electronics’ NAND flash sales totaled US$4,644.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2020, when it accounted for 32.9 percent of the global NAND flash market. The sales decreased 3.4 percent from the previous quarter whereas the market share rose 1.5 percentage points.

The NAND flash sales and market share of SK Hynix were US$1,638.8 million and 11.6 percent, fourth-highest, respectively. The figures fell 0.2 percent and 0.1 percentage point from the preceding quarter.

The figures are US$1.208 billion and 11.5 percent in the case of the NAND flash division of Intel, which is supposed to be acquired by SK Hynix. Once the acquisition is completed, the market share of SK Hynix will exceed 20 percent and the company will become second only to Samsung Electronics.

Kioxia followed Samsung Electronics with a market share of 19.5 percent. WDC and Micron Technology came in third and fifth with 14.4 percent and 11.2 percent, respectively. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the global total NAND flash sales fell 2.9 percent to US$14.1 billion.
