From mid-September, iPhone users can trade stocks through Stock Plus for Kakao, a stock-trading app linked to KakaoTalk.

As KakaoTalk stock trading services, which are integrated with the company's social networking service (SNS), will be officially available to both iOS and Android, the number of its users is expected to increase sharply.

Song Chi-hyung, CEO of Doonamoo Soft, the company that developed Stock Plus for Kakao, said on August 26, “The iPhone version of Stock Plus for Kakao will be registered at the App Store late this week. After a one to two week screening period, Stock Plus for Kakao will be available at the App Store.”

Stock Plus for Kakao is an exclusive securities app that can be used with a KakaoTalk account. Stocks and investment information can be shared among KakaoTalk friends, and even actual stock trades have become possible.

Only the Android version of Stock Plus for Kakao has been released so far. iPhone users are expected to be a large contingent of new users in the stock trading channels through which KakaoTalk, Stock Plus for Kakao, and each securities company are interconnected.

Currently, about 180,000 people are using the Android-based Stock Plus for Kakao. Considering the ratio of Android and IOS users in Korea as seven to three, another 50 percent of that number of new members could join.

The app can be found in the Google Play store under the name 증권플러스 for Kakao.
