Yeongyang Wind Farm built by Hanwha Engineering & Construction

Hanwha Engineering & Construction is redoubling its efforts for environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) management by expanding green energy development.

Last year, the company built a 76 MW wind farm in Yeongyang County and a 25 MW wind farm in Jeju. The construction of an 88 MW wind farm in Yangyang County is scheduled to begin this year. In addition, the company is planning to increase the capacity by 100 MW with new facilities in Yeongcheon, Yeongwol, etc.

As for offshore wind power generation, it is leading 400 MW farm development in Sinan and making preparations to build another farm in Boryeong. The former is slated to be the largest offshore wind farm in South Korea.

Hanwha Engineering & Construction is successfully expanding its hydrogen energy business as well. Last year, the company built the world’s first by-product hydrogen fuel cell power plant in the Daesan Industrial Complex located in Seosan. The 50 MW power plant produces 400,000 MWh of electricity a year, which can be used by approximately 160,000 households.

Also, Hanwha Engineering & Construction is considering launching a series of green hydrogen energy projects in cooperation with the other Hanwha Group subsidiaries including Hanwha Solutions and Hanwha Energy.
