SK Innovation's electric vehicle battery plant under construction in the U.S. State of Georgia

SK Innovation announced on Jan. 19 that it has recently appointed Carol Browner, a U.S. environmental protection expert, as an advisor to expand its battery business in the United States.

Carol Browner served as a director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Bill Clinton administration and director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy in the Obama administration.

SK Innovation said it needed Browner’s advice in establishing and implementing strategies for the growth of SK Innovation's global battery business.

"We continue to massively invest in the United States and create a lot of jobs,” Lim Soo-gil, head of the Value Creation Center at SK Innovation. “Carol Browner's experience and expertise will play a big role in the success of SK's battery business in the United States and beyond."

Meanwhile, SK Innovation has greatly strengthened its research and development on batteries for electric vehicles and marketing through reorganization at the end of 2020.
