Wins 'Star' Rating in Environmental Certification for 5 Years Running

GS Engineering & Construction has earned the “Star Champion” status in Singapore's construction market.

GS Engineering & Construction has earned the “Star Champion” status by receiving the highest rating of the Green and Gracious Builder Scheme (GGBS) run by Singapore’s Building Construction Authority (BCA) for five years in a row.

The GGBS is a certification system in Singapore that was introduced in 2009 to raise the environmental consciousness and professionalism of builders. It assesses builders based on a dozen criteria and classifies them into four levels C – Certified, Merit, Excellent, and Star.

The GGBS certification scheme is voluntary for builders. Yet builders which wish to apply for BCA Contractors Registry System (CRS) registration in work heads CW01 and CW02 and financial grades from A1 to B2 are required to obtain GGBS certification.

GS E&C has been given the Star rating for five consecutive years, earning the Star Champion status. The accolade from Singapore means that GS E&C is recognized as an eco-friendly construction company not only in Korea but also abroad. Previously, the contractor earned the "A" grade in the 2020 Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Ratings of Listed Companies released by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) in 2020.

ESG is a concept created based on the U.N. Principles of Responsible Investment, established in 2006. It is considered a key indicator of the long-term value and sustainability of a company from a non-financial perspective. Moreover, GS E&C entered the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and the Asia Pacific Index for 10 consecutive years in 2019, proving that the builder is a good model of ESG management at home and abroad.
