Kia Motors America announced on August 1 (local time) that it sold 52,309 vehicles in the United States in the preceding month to post sales growth of 6.7 percent from a year earlier and set a new July record. The previous high was 49,004, recorded in July last year.

The solid growth was led by the Soul and the Sportage. The cumulative sales volume of the former, which made its debut in the U.S. five years ago, has topped 500,000 units. More recently, it was picked out as one of the best models in JD Power’s APEAL survey for this year. It has won the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, and IDEA Design Award, too.

The sell-through of the Sportage amounted to 4,412 in the same month, 74.9 percent up from the same period of last year. The cumulative volume for 2014 jumped 36.2 percent year on year, too.
