Fermented Foods

The Korea Food Show 2014 will open from Sept. 2 to 5 at Exhibition Centers 1 and 2 of the Yangjae aT Center. It is being hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation and the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS).

This year's main theme is “Traditional Fermented Food from Eight Provinces.” This year's exhibition is right before Chuseok, a major Korean holiday that focuses on food, and the exhibition, promotion, consultations with buyers, food and beverage tasting, and evaluation will be designed according to this year's theme.

With nine exhibition halls arranged to support the show, all kinds of fermented food from around the country will be displayed and promoted. There will also be a special section for food sales for visitors who might be preparing food with Chuseok in mind.

Also, the exhibition is helping the participating companies find new sales channels by sending out invitations to buyers, both in Korea and other countries. There will also be seminars to educate the audience about the health benefits of fermented food.

The event will further be highlighted with cooking classes from prominent chefs, a cooking contest, free food and beverage tasting corners, customer evaluations, and quiz shows. There will also be sweepstakes and a power brand award ceremony, which the visitors can participate in and enjoy.

One of the persons in charge of organizing the show from MIFAFF said, “This year's show has a definite goal, to develop new ways for the fermented food industry that have yet to receive spotlights, thus developing the economy of the region with it.”
