The World's First of Its Kind

The final results of Object Detection Challenge in CVPR 2020

Hutom, a Korean medical software startup, announced on Nov. 30 that it will launch the world’s first artificial intelligence-empowered recording equipment for minimally invasive surgery in the first quarter of next year.

The company’s equipment, dubbed AI-Empowered ViHub, is used for minimally invasive surgery in which a doctor incises a patient’s body as little as possible to insert an endoscope.

The startup’s technological prowess was recognized at Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2020, a top-level academic meeting in the field of computer vision and deep learning held in June. The CVPR is an international academic conference that has been held every June since 1983. It is considered one of the leading events in the fields of computer engineering and AI technology.

Hutom was founded by Yonsei University professor Hyung Woo-jin, who is unrivaled in robot-aided stomach cancer surgery.
