Golden Sustainability

The Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) won the gold award with its annual sustainability report at the 2013 League of American Communication (LACP) Vision Awards Annual Report Competition. The competition evaluates contents and designs in the periodicals published by Fortune 500 companies and other large-sized companies. For this year's award, about 1,000 companies from 25 countries entered the contest.

KEPCO’s sustainability report scored perfect in six sections -- first impression, report cover, letter to shareholders, report narrative, report financials, and message clarity -- totaling 98 out of 100, the best of all global electric power companies.

One judge from the competition said, “I was impressed by the performance of sustainability, and also the design and readability of this report was superb.”

KEPCO is the first company in Korea to join the UN Global Compact (UNGC), a voluntary international convention for corporate responsibility. It published its first sustainability report the very year it joined the UNGC, becoming the first to publish this kind of report among public enterprises in Korea. Since then, it has been nationally and globally releasing data on its business performance in finance, environment, and social contribution. It is about to release its tenth report in late July.
