Logistics Companies Suffer over 90% Drop in OP

Sales and operating profit of the nation's top 297 corporations fell 2.68 percent and 0.74 percent from a year ago in the third quarter of 2020, respectively.

Market research firm CEO Score recently analyzed 297 out of the top 500 sales companies and reported on Nov. 23 that their sales and operating profit for the first three quarters of this year are 1,585,769.4 billion won (down 2.68 percent from a year ago) and 94,972.4 billion won (down 0.74 percent from a year ago), respectively.

The firm also reported that sales and operating profit of 268 enterprises other than Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell 5.49 percent and 15.6 percent, respectively.

According to the report, the operating profit of logistics companies dropped 91.77 percent in one year from 1,916.4 billion won to 448.5 billion won and the rates of decrease amounted to 84.43 percent for petrochemical companies and 50.26 percent for automakers and auto parts manufacturers.
