Event to Be Broadcast through YouTube

Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) Authority said on Oct. 7 that it will hold a forum to improve the living environment of international residents in the IFEZ at Songdo Convensia in Songdo International City on Oct. 13.

The authority has been trying to improve the residential environment of foreign residents based on their opinions collected through SNS channels. But it is the first time that it holds a forum to discuss the matter.

The event will be attended by IFEZ Authority commissioner Lee Won-jae and other foreigners living in the IFEZ. It will minimize the number of participants in the forum due to concerns about COVID-19 but will broadcast it through YouTube.

The event have two speakers, Gregory Hill, chief administrative officer and dean of the faculty University of Utah Asia Campus, and Gbemisola Disu, chief business officer of George Mason University Korea. Hill will speak on "Growth in the IFEZ" while Disu will speak about the IFEZ from a comparative cultural perspective. Then, Roland Wilson, a professor at George Mason University Korea, will moderate a discussion on the presentations. Panelists will include Kim Se-joon, head of the Investment Attraction Division at IFEZ Authority, Sam MacHour, vice chairman of Samsung Biologics, and Quinnne Murakawa, a student at New York State University.

IFEZ Authority commissioner Lee Won-jae said, "On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of IFEZ Authority, we have organized the forum to listen to various opinions from foreigners in order to improve their residential environment. We will actively review opinions expressed at the forum and use them in improving their daily lives in the IFEZ."

Meanwhile, 6,088 international residents resided in the IFEZ as of the end of July including 3,498 in Songdo, 1,601 in Yeongjong and 989 in Cheongna.
