Starts to Receive Preorders

Visitors take a look at LG Electronics' rollable TVs at CES 2020 held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada on Jan. 7.

LG Electronics will release the world's first rollable OLED TV in Korea in October.

The company has recently opened a website dedicated to LG Signature OLED TV R, a rollable TV model, and started receiving preorders from domestic customers. Invitational events for VVIPs and customers who preordered the new TV will be held behind closed doors from Oct. 14 to 19.

TV industry experts estimate the rollable TV model’s price at about 100 million won per unit, which is about twice the price of an 88-inch 8K OLED TV, which is sold for 50 million won per unit, the most expensive at the moment among LG Electronics TVs.

The rollable TV was first unveiled at CES 2019, drawing attention as a new form factor. When people watch TV, the sleek TV model unfolds its screen. When users turn off the TV, it rolls down its screen into the main body. This product maximizes the advantages of an OLED display that can be bent or rolled freely because it does not have a backlight.
