KT announced on Sept. 24 that it has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Jasmine Telecom Systems (JTS) of Thailand to develop the internet data center (IDC) business in Thailand. JTS is an IDC business arm of Jasmine Group, an information and communication company in Thailand.

Under this contract, the two companies will share knowledge on and experiences in the IDC business for the purpose of developing new businesses in Thailand, develop financing strategies and business models for mutual cooperation, propose internet data center solutions to global cloud service providers, and cooperate in IDC technologies and solutions.

KT plans to enter the Thai IDC market by the second half of 2021 and provide high-quality IDC services to global cloud companies.

In March, KT signed a contract on supplying IPTV services with 3BB TV, an IPTV service provider of Jasmine Group. Since then, the two sides have discussed a strategic partnership in the IDC business in Thailand, which has big growth potential.

Thailand's IDC market, including the cloud market, is expected to reach US$1 billion in 2020 and grow at an annual average of 26 percent by 2025, the Bangkok Post says.
