Tri-band LTE Galaxy

Samsung Electronics’ tri-band LTE Galaxy S5 will offer much faster download speeds. The world’s first Tri-band LTE phone will be sold at around 940,000 won (US$922) per unit.

The newly-released model delivers download speeds of up to 225 Mbps, three times faster than LTE phones with connection speeds of 75 Mbps, and one and a half times faster than LTE-A phones (150 Mbps).

The tri-band LTE version features a QHD Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Fast download and streaming speeds are essential for the new model equipped with a QHD display.

Samsung’s new handset comes with two processor variants — Exynos 6 and Snapdragon 805 - an improvement from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 of the previous model.

The phone has 3GB of RAM, up 1GB from the Galaxy S5. Other technical specifications of the new model are the same as those of the existing version, including a 16-megapixel camera, dust and water resistant functions (an IP67 rating), and a heart rate sensor.

But its launch price is 940,500 won, which is about 100,000 won higher than its predecessor. As a result, the price of Samsung phones sold in the nation increased from around 800,000 won to 900,000 won per unit once again.
