A Korean CM company Hanmi Global (formerly known as HanmiParsons) ranked 18th in the world’s CM industry. Hanmi Global announced on August 29 that it ranked 16th in terms of overseas sales and 18th in terms of total sales in CM industry excluding US CM companies, by Engineering News Record, a US engineering and construction weekly.

In terms of sales, Hochtief Ag of Germany held first place, followed by Balfour Beatty of the UK and Lend Lease of Australia. The top 20 companies include a Korean company, a German company, an Egyptian company, a Dutch company, a Kuwaiti company, a Danish company and a UAE company. China and Canada both had two companies on the list, while The UK had 3 companies and Australia 5.

“Korean companies should tap into the US$7 trillion overseas construction market which is 50 times larger than the domestic market, in order to survive,” said Kim Jong-hoon, chairman of Hanmi Global. He added, “When Korean technological service companies like Hanmi Global make a foray into the global market together with Korean construction, IT and financial companies, we can secure strong competitiveness.”

Hanmi Global changed its name from “Hanmi Parsons” to “Hanmi Global’ at the beginning of this year and has been branching out into the global market by taking over Otak, a general engineering company in the US. The company has also created 7 overseas branches or corporations and made inroads into 36 countries.
