SK Telecom is making inroads into the Chinese ICT market by signing contracts for the supply of its “appcessories” such as the smart robot “Albert” and the “Smart Beam.”

On June 12, SK Telecom concluded a contract with Jia Shi Da (JSD) Robot, the largest home robot distributor in China, at the Mobile Asia Expo 2014 opened in Shanghai, to export 30,000 units of the Albert. According to the contract, 6,000 units of the smart robot will be shipped out within this year, 8,000 in 2015, and 16,000 in 2016.

JSD Robot is currently running 45 offline stores across China and is planning to increase the number to 100 by the end of this year. It is going to recruit 100 managers for the sale of the Albert while setting up hands-on centers, too.

In the meantime, SK Telecom signed a contract with the Wanchang Group in April to supply 10,000 units of “Smart Beam,” which is a micro projector linkable to a smartphone. The Smart Beam’s cumulative sales volume has reached 80,000 since its debut in September 2012, and it is available in the in-flight duty free shops of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines as well.

Approximately 8,000 Smart Beams were exported to seven countries such as Germany and Japan in 2013 alone. Earlier this year, 5,000 units were purchased by the largest mobile device distributor in Brazil.
