With Support from the RIGHT Fund

KT will conduct research to develop a "novel coronavirus risk measurement model."

KT announced on July 5 that it will conduct research to develop a "novel coronavirus risk measurement model" with support from the RIGHT Fund, a funding agency dedicated to supporting global health R&D via 3-way partnerships between the Government of Korea, Korean life science companies, and international funders, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of the United States.

KT plans to develop a model that can measure COVID-19 infection risk by analyzing the past movements of smartphone app users and confirmed COVID-19 patients released by the government through artificial intelligence and big data technology.

Through this research, KT will further upgrade its Global Epidemic Prevention Platform (GEPP), a platform KT developed to help the Republic of Ghana to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases. It uses big data technology to prevent, detect and respond to infectious diseases before they spread.

KT also plans to contribute to solving the problem of medical imbalance between regions and haves and have-nots in underdeveloped countries based on its ICT and digital health R&D technology.
