LG Display announced on June 4 that it was recognized for its world-class technology by receiving Display Industry Awards during the Display Week 2014 housed by the Society for Information Display (SID) in San Diego Convention Center, California from June 1 to 6.

Each year, SID awards Gold and Silver Display of the Year Awards in three categories: Display of the Year, Display Application of the Year, and Display Component of the Year.

The world’s largest LCD panel maker was awarded the Gold Display Application of the Year Award for its G Flex smartphone with a flexible OLED panel based on a plastic substrate instead of glass, along with Silver Display of the Year Award for its curved OLED TV panel. It is very unusual for one company to win in two out of three categories.

SID is an industry organization for displays in which 6,000 experts such as professors, professionals, and researchers around the world participate. The organization hosts the Display Week every year, and awards companies for information exchange and advanced display technology.
