The Galaxy Note 3 alarm doesn’t always work.

According to Samsung Electronics’ service centers and the Galaxy Note user community on June 4, there are many reported cases in which the alarm of the Galaxy Note 3 does not ring at the designated time, since there are some errors in the latest version of the Android operating system (OS) that the Galaxy Note 3 adopted in January.

It is the first time for the Galaxy Note 3 to have a software problem, after it was upgraded from Jellybean 4.3 to Android 4.4 KitKat in January of last year. A large number of users are said to have experienced frustration in the malfunctioning alarm.

At Samsung service centers, technicians made an attempt to address the problem of the phone by initializing and resetting the alarm application. However, it was pointed out that the problem with the alarm reemerges, and thus there is no fundamental solution to the problem.

The community is extremely angry about the fact that the company did not notify consumers of this error, even though Samsung was previously aware of the problem. Related to this issue, an official at one Samsung Service Center commented, “We identified an error in the alarm function of the Galaxy Note series occurring after Android OS upgrade, which is caused by a collision between software.” The official added, “We will soon release the latest version of the Android OS to fix the problem.”
