It has been pointed out that wearable devices, which are just wearable as of now, will be developed to the point of context awareness in the upcoming era of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE).

Dave Evans, chief futurist at Cisco Systems, maintained on May 22 that wearable devices will turn themselves into so-called “aware-able” devices in an IoE environment. “Most such devices currently on the market just let users recognize that they are moving and do not support in-body scanning,” he said, adding, “However, various types of new gadgets will become available in the near future to bring about a fundamental change in the way of our lives.”

He also mentioned 3C as the prerequisites for this sort of innovation, specifically, contact with the body, connections to the world, and recognition of the context based on related information.

He explained that wearable appliances will be capable of doing more things when in close contact with the human body because the quantity and accuracy of the data it can utilize will increase in this case. “As approximately 90 percent of the global population will be wirelessly connected down the road, a rapid increase in the intelligence and capacity of wearable devices will be witnessed so that even very small gadgets can provide sufficient bandwidth in, for example, 10 years of time,” he concluded.
