KT&G has donated COVID-19 diagnostic kits worth 100 million won to Russia and Turkey, where the novel coronavirus is spreading rapidly. In early May, the company provided 6,300 COVID-19 diagnostic kits to the Indonesian government.

According to Worldometer, a website that offers COVID-19 data in real time, Russia's cumulative number of confirmed cases stood at 476,000 as of June 8, the third highest in the world. More than 8,000 confirmed cases have been reported in Russia in a day recently, making Russia the most seriously affected country in Europe.

Turkey has reported more than 171,000 confirmed cases thus far. More than 30,000 COVID-19 tests were conducted on June 3 alone, with the total number of tests exceeding 2.1 million. Both Russia and Turkey are in desperate need of medical supplies such as diagnostic kits and protective clothing to combat the spread of the pandemic.

KT&G has delivered a total of 7,600 COVID-19 diagnostic kits to the Russian state of Kaluga Oblast and the Turkish Ministry of Health since the end of May.
